Getting Prepared for MUET part 4

In the previous entry,I'd talked about how to excel in speaking individually and some about group discussion. It is necessary to interrupt but let the candidate give his/her opinion first then you interrupt. To do this, know his/her main ideas and jot down the ideas then you do so.Don't forget to use sequence connectors to initiate, maintaining and end the discussion. This should be ample by the time given.Speak clearly so that the other candidates and the teacher can hear us.A thing to be warned, don't EVER shout even once.Don't too fast or pause too long.Try to manage it by practicing a lot.Refrain yourself to use peculiar speech habits such as 'you know','actually'.Don't EVER use 'lah' in every end of the speech.Remember MUET is different than Bahasa Malaysia,so we have to speak it properly.Be active participant in this part.Don't stand still and saying nothing.Do not EVER think that we are always right.Do not dominate the discussion.Give the other candidates chance to speak their opinions.Who knows that one of their opinions may be right  in the discussion.Pay attention to the discussion.Don't daydream or wandering yourself.Focus on the topic given and do not speak out of topic. Then, observe social conventions when interacting.Address others politely.Be friendly, polite and diplomatic.Don't ever feel touching or upset when our idea is not accepted. We should avoid to be more personally, defensive or creating uneasiness and anxiety.Always do open our mind. These entries that I told including this entry posts is some tips about how to overcome problems in Listening and Speaking. For Writing and Reading part,I am very convinced that you are all understand and I don't need to tell again. If you have any questions or any suggestion, just publish your questions on my Facebook account.Until then, goodbye.and Assalamualaikum w.b.t.

Getting prepared for MUET part 3

Okay..let's continue. From the previous post,I had talked about eye contact. This is the continuation of it.Eye contact is important. This draws attention to other candidates and the teacher as well.If we just read and read, people will  bored and we don't want that to be happened.Good usage of body gestures also plays a part in this part in both sections. If we just remain still and not moving, there will not be interesting.Intonations must be resonance according to what topic we had given.Don't just do the same,it could be lame, try to vary them by practicing everyday.Regarding on the group discussion,it's the same method. But it is a bit differentiate than the first one.In this part,we are allowed to interrupt, but in more polite way..

Getting prepared for MUET part 2

Now let's continue..In the previous entry,I'd talk about tips on how to overcome problems in listening..Now I'll talk about speaking part..as you know,it consists of two sections,A and B.Section A is individually, and Section B is group discussion.Time allocated for the section is 2 minutes for Section A and 10 minutes for Section B.This part will be done in 4 people. All four of you  will be given a topic with four different main contents for each candidate.First of all, make sure train yourself to have fast-thinking and do a lot of exercises regarding on this part. Then brainstorm and write down your ideas quickly and use words you understand.Anyway do have a wide range of knowledge through reading any source of knowledge. This helps you to know about the topic given more. After you have done, you will speak. You will always do this like "errr...'',''aa...'',''umm..'' and etc.Don't feel nervous.Try to relax. If not, this will waste your time to speak. To overcome this, try to practice in front of mirror, practice yourself and also your friends as well..Encourage to speak in English everyday. It'll be handy for you.Make sure eye contact is important. When you speak individually, make sure to have eye contact with friends and teachers.

Getting prepared for MUET..

MUET stands for Malaysian University English Test.It consists of 4 different parts (for those who don't know about this) that is Listening,Speaking,Reading and Writing. The marks for Listening and Speaking is 45 marks,Reading 120 marks, and Writing 90.If you're not good in listening and speaking,I suggest that you excel through reading and writing especially reading because it carries a lot of marks.

I do also have weakness in Listening and Speaking part.I want to share to you all how to overcome the problems.Let me say about Listening. The first thing we have to overcome is your thoughts and feelings. We have to control it otherwise we won't able to answer it.Try practicing this part as often as we can.It will make you to perform better in this part.Do not let our mind wandering around but instead just focus on the listening to get the answers.Jot down only the main points when the recording is played.Remember,it is only can be played twice so you need to learn and practice to have sharp hearing through exercises.Use simple answers that we understand but if you can,try to answer exactly because sometimes the examiner is strict. So you better watch out.Pay attention to speaker's tone of voice. This will make easier for us to anticipate what can be said next, how the speaker's feels about a subject or point and shows the emphasising of point.
